Before I get into today’s action, need to make some corrections to previously reported information. Thanks to Barry McRee for pointing out that the 3rd session seems to be the session without end and the standings reflected that.
Each session (there are five in total for the season) is supposed to consist of fifteen play dates, so each team has a chance to play twelve games. Based on that, the third session should have been cut off with the games played through 8/06/26 but my latest standings included games through 8/20/26. The restated 3rd session standings are reflected below:

A belated congratulations to the Orange squad for winning the crown for the 3rd session with a stellar 7-4-0 record. While we are talking about the Orange team, I would be remiss in not sharing the outstanding performance by the first four batters in their lineup in last Thursday’s 12-10 win over Red. Adam Gordon, Terry Thompson, Steve Kendig and Jim Foelker went a combined 12-12 in the game! The quartet scored ten of Orange’s twelve runs and combined to knock on eight of those runs. Truly a remarkable performance by the four horseman of the Orange team!
Shout out to Johnny Neville and Mike Hill for keeping the scorebook in Monday’s opening games while I was having fun playing with my boys in Green. Finally, on to Monday’s action…
Two lopsided games that thankfully were both finished early despite the losing teams getting to come to the plate in the sixth inning. Happily, for our B division players, we concluded the morning fun by 9:49 a.m. allowing them to start and hopefully finish on time and avoid some of the blistering Texas heat!

First & Second Inning Recap:
Orange- so this one did not exactly live up to the pre-game hype as Green dominated throughout. Orange was missing a couple of key cos with Terry Thompson and Jack Adams out of the lineup but did see the return of Bobby Miller to the lineup for this one. Adam Gordon bounced back to P Tom Kelm to open the game. Bobby Miller wasted no time in announcing his return as his flyball to left got past Mickey Poole for a one-out inside the park home run. Tom got Jim Foelker to ground out to short for the 2nd out before Steven Kendig and Barry McRee came through with back-to-back singles. Jerry Mylius hit into a fielder’s choice to close out the inning, leaving two runners left on base. 2nd – Bubba Barnett led off the 2nd with a line single to center. Luther Elmore went down on strikes for the 1st out, but Donnie Janac’s single put runners on 1B and 2B with only one out. Bobby Hawthorne ground into a fielder’s choice out at 2B for the 2nd out and Lucky Hoffman bounced out to 1B with Larry King making the unassisted putout for the final out.
Green– Paul Rubin looped a single in front of Steven in left center to lead off the inning. Luis Sanchez was retired on a deep fly to right center for the 1st out. Jack Spellman ground into a fielder’s choice and there were quickly two men gone. Denny Malloy continued to show patience at the plate, drawing a walk. Mickey Poole’s single to left center loaded the bases. Tom Kelm hit a bouncer up the middle that got through the infield for a two-run single to give Green the lead. Robby Vickery grounded to SS Scott Wright to retire the side. 2nd– Larry King went down on strikes to open the 2nd but Green’s mercenaries came through as singles by Scott Wright, Jeff Broussard and Tommy DeLeon loaded the bases with only one out. Paul lined out to Donnie Janac in left but the ball was deep enough to score Scott from 3B for the 1st run. Luis ripped a single to right to plate Jeff with the 2nd run. Jack S. laced a shot to right field that spun away from Lucky allowing Jack to steam into 2B with a two-run double. Denny, staying hot at the dish, smacked a single to right to bring in the 5th run as Green took early command of this one.
End of 2nd Score: Green 7 Orange 1
3rd Inning Recap:
Orange- manager Tom Kelm inserted P Luis Sanchez in the 3rd to give Orange a new look at the plate and the strategy had mixed results for this frame. Adam reached on an infield single to start the inning. Bobby M. followed with a sizzling grounder down the 1b line that git past Larry before he knew what happened. Bobby cruised into 2B with a RBI double to get Orange on the board. Jim flew out to left center with Bobby advancing to 3B for the 1st out. Steven lined a single to left to drive in Bobby with the 2nd run. Barry singled but Jerry grounded out to 1B to close out the inning.
Green– answered back with two runs of their own to extend the lead back to six runs. Mickey led off with a high drive to left that looked to be heading for extra bases, but Donnie made a nice leaping catch to rob him of a base hit. Tom and Robby delivered back-to-back singles to start Green’s rally in the 3rd. Larry fouled out for the 2nd out, but Scott reached to load the bases with two men out. Jeff delivered with a line single to left center to drive in two runs before Tommy D. flew out to left to retire the side.
End of 3rd Score: Green 9 Orange 3
Fourth Inning Recap:
Orange– P Luis Sanchez found his footing and retired the Orangemen in order in the 4th. Bubba grounded back to the pitcher for the first out. Luther bounced out to short for the 2nd out. Donnie ripped a drive to left center and thanks to a last second leap, I was able to snag the ball for the final out of the inning,
Green– pretty much put this one out of reach with a five-run outburst in the 4th. I drilled a single to center to start the ball rolling. Luis smacked another hard single to right to move me to 3B. Jack went back to the well with another well-placed ball to right for a two-run double and Green was off and running. Denny singled in the 3rd run before Mickey followed with another hit to keep things moving. Tom K. lined an RBI single up the middle to bring in the 4th run. Robby, perfecting his inside out opposite field swing, lined a base hit to right to complete Green’s 2nd five -run inning of the game.
End of 4th Score: Green 14 Orange 3
Fifth Inning Recap:
Orange– P Luis continued to baffle the Orange hitters as he shut them down on two hits in the 5th. Bobby ground out to Robby at 3B to open the frame. Lucky singled through the 5/6 hole with the top of the lineup coming up. Adam went down swinging for the 2nd out. Bobby M. completed his perfect day at the plate with a single to left. Jim popped out to 2B on a nice play by Tom K. to retire the side.
With Orange trailing by eleven runs, the two team flip flopped and Orange continued to bat.
Sixth “Open” Inning Recap:
Orange– P Luis put Orange out of their misery with a 1-2-3 inning to wrap this one up, Steve bounced out to 3B and Robby, as he did all day, easily made the play to get the 1st out. Barry line out to short for the 2nd out. Jerry fouled one down the left field line for the final out as Green recorded a lopsided win of the recently crowned 3rd session winners.
Final Score: Green 14 Orange 3

First & Second Inning Recap:
Red– with only five of their regular players available for this one, Red had to rely heavily on their mercenaries to carry them through. P Tommy DeLeon looks untouchable in the early going as he retired the first five batters. Butch Barber bounced out to 2B to get the game started. Both Terry Watts and Bobby Hawthorne were retired on ground balls to Mike Hill at short for a quick 1-2-3 1st inning. 2nd– things did not get much better for the Red lineup in the 2nd. Jack Kelly (batting cleanup for perhaps the 1st time in a while) grounded out to 1B to get things rolling. Morris Carter went down swinging for the 2nd out. Scott Wright ripped a single to right center to break up the no-hitter, perfect game et al. Jack Spellman lined a ball to right center, but it was right at Jim Foelker, and he made the catch to retire the side.
Blue- determined to hold off Red and stay out of the cellar, Blue came out on fire in this one as they pounded out six hits on their way to a five-run 1st inning, Tommy DeLeon (great managerial decision by Johnny to put him in the leadoff spot) lined a single to right center to open the frame. Mike Hill followed with a clean single to right. Tim Coles launched a flyball to left center that bounced just in front of the fence for a two-run triple. Tim just beat the relay throw to 3B to complete the three base hit. As the home plate umpire for this game, I can confirm, the foot was down on the line before the catch was completed. Henry Flores ripped a single down the 3B line to score Tim with Blues 3rd run. Donnie Janac bounced into a fielder’s choice with Jack S. making a nice throw to 2B for the 1st out. Dave Berra lined out to short for the 2nd out. Alex Valles kept the inning alive with line shot to center field. Lucky Hoffman squared up Jack Kelly’s two-strike pitch and drove the ball to left center for a bases clearing two-run double to complete the five-run inning. 2nd– same song, 2nd verse as Blue erupted with another five-run inning to take command of this game. Daniel ripped a double to center to open the frame. Bobby Miller hit a screamer through the 5/6 hole for an RBI double and Blue’s first run. Jim Foelker reached on an infield single as Bobby wisely stayed put at 2B. Ray’s sacrifice fly to left center moved Bobby to 3B and he scored on Tommy’s single to right. Mike flew out to Steve K. for the 2nd out. Tim followed with a deep flyball to left center that looked catchable but ending up falling in front of Steve for an RBI single. Henry capped off the frame with a ringing double down the left field line to bring in two more runs and give Blue a seemingly insurmountable ten-run lead.
End of 2nd Score: Blue 10 Red 0
Third Inning Recap:
Red-P Tommy D. continued his mastery over the Red hitters. Barry did manage to reach base with a lead off single to left center. Steve followed with a flyball to shallow center that was caught by Jim F. Inexplicably, Barry was off with the hit and Jim’s outstanding throw to 1B beat him back to the base by several steps to complete the double play. Jeff ended the frame with a groundout to 3B as the shut out remained intact.
Blue- Tom Kelm took over on the mound in the 3rd, and he managed to hold Blue scoreless in his first inning, Donnie opened the inning with an infield single to 2B. Dave bounced intoa fielder’s choice for the 1st out. Alex reached on an infield single to 1B to put runners on 1B and 2B. Lucky was unable to replicate his first at-bat (never an easy task) and fouled out for the 2nd out. Daniel grounded out to short to close out the inning.
End of 3rd Score: Blue 10 Red 0
Fourth Inning Recap:
Red- finally broke through and put some runs on the scoreboard in the 4th. Tom Kelm (with Jack Spellman running from the plate) smoked a line drive down the left field line that zoomed past Henry to the fence allowing Jack to circle the bases for a combined inside the park home run! Butch ripped a single to center and Terry followed with a looping single to right and things looked promising for Red. Bobby H. hit a grounder towards 3B, and Tim gloved it to start a 5-4-3 double play. Jack K. salvaged the inning with a single to right center to score Butch with Red’s 2nd run. Morris lined out to short to end the frame.
Blue- maintained their ten-run lead with a couple of runs int eh 4th. Bobby Miller doubled to right to lead off the inning. Jim drew a walk and Ray singled up the middle to bring in the 1st run. Tommy bounced into a force out at 2B for the 1st out with Jim scoring on the play. Mike singled but Tim swung at a pitch that was way inside and grounded to 3B where Jack made the unassisted putout for the 2nd out. Henry popped out to short to retire the side.
End of 4th Score: Blue 12 Red 2
Fifth Inning Recap:
Red- a leadoff homerun by Scott Wright was all of the offense that Red could manage in the 5th as Blue picked up their 3rd double play of the game to thwart the Red attack. Jack S. followed with Scott’s blast with a single to right, but he was forced out at 2B on Barry’s groundout. Steve grounded sharply to Mike, and he easily turned an inning ending 6-4-3 double play to get out of the jam.
Blue- scored a couple of runs in a non-traditional manner (they still count) to maintain a healthy lead heading into the buffet. Donnie reached on an infield single to start the frame. Dave laced a single to left to keep things rolling. Alex bounced into a fielder’s choice for the 1st out. Lucky worked a walk to load the bases. Daniel followed with a grounder to short; I seem to recall that Scott made the put out at 2B but his throw to 1B went awry allowing the runner from 2B and 3B to score on the play. Bobby M. flew out to left center to end the inning.

Sixth “Open” Inning Recap:
Red- down by eleven, Red had no answer for Tommy’s pitching and went down quietly in the open inning, Jeff lined a shot up the middle that Tommy speared for the first out. Tom K. bounced out to short for the 2nd out. Butch reached on an infield single to prolong the agony, but Terry swung through a pitch to end the game with Blue winning by a final of 14-3.

Green has come out of the gate in the 4th session hitting on all cylinders on their way to a 4-0 start. They currently lead both Gray and Orange by two full games while Red and Blue are tied for the bottom spot, trailing by three games. Lots of games yet to be played so no need to place the crown on Green until we are further down the road.

Green’s win over Orange while Gray was idle upped their lead in the season long standing to a full game.

Game 1 8:00 a.m. Orange (2-2-0) vs. Red (1-3-0)
Will Red be inspired by teammate Ken Brown’s exploits on the track and race past Orange for a much-needed victory. Can Orange rebound from one of their worst offensive performances of the season with a win vs. Red?
Gray has umpiring duties for this one.
Game 2 9:00 a.m. Gray (2-2-0) vs. Blue (1-3-0)
Blue finally snapped their six-game losing streak with a standout performance vs. Red. Can they make it two in a row against the tough Gray team? Will Gray return to action rested and refreshed after their off day and are they ready to challenge Green for the top spot in the overall season long standings.
All will be revealed on Thursday!
Orange will be taking on the umpire responsibilities in this game.
Green will have a bye on Thursday allowing their players to have priority in the draw and thereby potentially impacting on the outcome of the above games!
Other C Division News & Notes:
· Morris Carter, the oldest player in the C division, will be turning eighty-nine on Thursday so we would like to celebrate whim and his long tenure with some yummy treats, please be sure to wish him a happy Birthday as I’m sure no one wants us to sing!
· PARD has requested we move to field K6 to allow the fields at K1 and K2 to rest and recover. The move will be effective September 8, 2026. We are not scheduled to play on Labor Day (9/7/26) but PARD is allowing us to play on this Tuesday. More information will be forthcoming on the schedule but mark it on your calendar.
