Code of Conduct Policy
Austin Senior Softball League
β The name of this organization is the Austin Senior Softball League (ASSL)
β The purpose of this organization is to promote fun, fellowship, and good sportsmanship through playing softball
β Membership is open to any softball player aged 55+ irrespective of race, religion, color, ethnicity, sex, disability, or any other type of discrimination who remains in Good Standing of the purpose of ASSL. Good Standing shall mean conduct in a manner consistent with the intent and purpose of ASSL.
β Any member who conducts himself/herself in a manner not consistent with the purpose of the organization will be subject to disciplinary action including suspension or termination. For example, a player who shall become verbally abusive and disruptive, strikes, pushes, shoves, or throws an object at another player, umpire or fan, shall be immediately ejected from the game at the discretion of the umpires or Board Members, and shall be subject to further disciplinary actions including suspension or termination.
β The following are standard disciplinary actions that can and will be taken by the Board:
1. First offense β the offending member shall receive an oral warning followed by a written confirmation from a Board Member.
2. Second offense β the Board may suspend the offending organization member for up to the remainder of the season, confirmed in writing.
3. Third offense β the Board may terminate the offender’s membership in the organization, confirmed in writing.
β The Board may at their discretion, rescind the membersβ permanent termination from the organization at the end of the season and reinstate that player at the beginning of the next year’s season.
β In the event of serious violations that in the estimation of the Board pose a continuing threat to the wellbeing of players and/or the normal functioning of the ASSL β i.e., physical altercations or abusive, threatening behavior β the Board may invoke immediate suspension or termination of that playerβs membership in ASSL following such occurrence.
